About Navtech Radar
Navtech Radar is an award winning, world-leading designer and manufacturer of commercial millimetre wave radar sensors. Since 1999, substantial investments in R&D and manufacturing expertise have gained the company a reputation for products that are high performance, robust and extremely reliable. The Navtech Radar industrial sensor is world renowned as the radar sensor of choice for outdoor driverless vehicle navigation and obstacle detection applications. Customers include a number of national government research departments and international corporations such as Boeing, Caterpillar and Danaher Motion.
Navtech further develops and manufactures highly effective millimetre wave (MMW) radar sensor solutions for outdoor commercial applications. This has lead to a series of ‘world first’ applications such as; the first driverless straddle carrier operational port in the world in Brisbane, Australia. The first quay crane anti-collision safety system using MMW radar on operational cranes for Bristol Port Authority, UK. The first operational airport ground surface movement system using MMW radar operating at East Midland’s Airport, UK. The first commercial off-the-shelf 77GHz MMW radar security system application in a number of countries such as USA, Italy, Poland, Ireland, UK, Kuwait and – notably – the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar. The first 77GHz MMW radar installation for motorway incident detection and hard shoulder monitoring deployed on the M42 for the UK Highways Agency as well as the first radar incident detection solution to be deployed at the new A3 Hindhead Tunnel in South East England.
Navtech’s AdvanceGuard™ 350-X solution won the Detektor International Innovative Achievement Award for Alarm & Detection 2009, and was a finalist with the same product for Intruder Alarm Product of the Year at IFSEC 2009 Awards and a finalist at Security Excellence Awards 2009 for Security Innovation of the Year. In March 2010 Navtech Radar in partnership with Bath University and associate Anthony D’Souza was awarded the prestigious KTP Award building on EPSRC funded research, sponsored by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA).
