LSM 5 LIVE - the fastest confocal - EVER! |
Providing exclusive insights into the cell's highly transient and dynamic events, the new LSM 5 LIVE offers a unique combination of high speed, image quality and sensitivity. This microscope, the world's fastest ever confocal system, rewrites the rules for Live Cell Research and allows scientists to examine ultra-fast processes that have been beyond the limits of microscopical systems until now.
 The key to the new microscope's performance, and one that underlines Carl Zeiss' technological leadership in fluorescence microscopy, is a revolutionary optical system that can capture over 1,000 images per second. And, unlike any other fast-scanning technology, the LIVE system does not sacrifice excitation or emission efficiency to deliver outstanding image quality and exceptional sensitivity.
LSM 5 LIVE images 20 times faster than any other confocal microscope at up to 120 full frame images per second (512 x 512 pixels). If the scanning format is reduced, frame rates are even faster:
- at 512 x 100 pixels - 505 frames per second
- at 512 x 50 pixels - 1,010 frames per second
 In opening a new time window for confocal microscopy, the LSM 5 LIVE is ideally suited to live cell imaging studies.
